Where does the best of Made in Italy and Made in France find a home in NY?
Welcome to 130 W 57th… a landmarked Art Nouveau building where designers, directors and artists have lived and worked over the last 110 years. Finding inspiration in a place that was the center of artistic activities, Monvieve’s ethos of design, heritage and heirloom has come home.
Located on the south side of 57th Street, the tall, projecting bay windows set in geometrically ornamented cast iron frames bring the north light so prized by artists, and suggest the unique spatial arrangement in the building. Built in 1907/8 to provide living and working facilities for artists, the studio building at 130 West 57th is a rare surviving example of this unusual building type, and a reminder of the early 20th century when West 57th was a center of artistic activities. Surrounded by the Arts Studio League, Carnegie Hall, The Directors Guild and many other sites devoted to the arts, its distinguished history of tenants include Ray Charles, Woody Allen, William Dean Howells and Childe Hassam—in whose works the distinctive trapezoidal windows appear.
Collection
Driven by a sophisticated aesthetic, Monvieve atelier represents a sublime beauty that stands apart from the crowd. Finding inspiration in an extremely discerning client that expects a certain savoir-vivre and exclusivity from her bridal attire, Monvieve is the essence of Milanese refinement and Parisian chic.
Favoring the eye without neglecting touch or emotion, Monvieve fully understands that a product must be original to resonate with a bride. Innovation starts with creativity and design, premised with a deep respect for craft and technique. At Monvieve, quality of workmanship and materials reign front and center.
Combined with meticulous research and an eye that delights in the details, a Monvieve is a product like no other. Straight off the couture runway, the bridal headbands and headpieces reimagine horsehair and precious materials, while proprietary methods work historic laces with contemporary mediums. The bespoke veil collection also honors this sensibility as truly luxurious Chantilly lace, experimental techniques and old world Italian craftsmanship make them not only today’s interpretation of modern elegance, but true pieces of art. And befitting of the Monvieve philosophy, these new methods of working lace and other experimental processes, evolves an aesthetic apart from the mass: luminous tulles and silks defy definitions as both contemporary and centuries old/archived lace patterns come together in these unique wedding veils and accessories to create emotion and enchantment.
